Sony, the Japan-based multinational company is planning to revive its old smartphone series with a new upgrade. If you remember, back in 2012 the company launched Sony Xperia P with some of the cool looks back then. Now, Sony will be coming with an upgraded version of the smartphone series named Sony Xperia P2. The upcoming model for the P series will be among the flagship phones of the company, which means it will be getting some high-end features and specifications. However, there is no rigid information or official words available for the smartphone but we have leaks and reports revealing the information about the device. The company is aiming to use the smartphone’s unique design that was popular back in 2012 to leverage for its upcoming flagship phone. Sony Xperia P2 will have similar design languages like its predecessor with a rectangular base and a big display. The main attraction will be the transparent strip beneath the display with a notification light for the users. There will be a full metal body with glass finishing at the back panel. The leaked images of the Xperia smartphone shows that the phone will be way more premium looking model of the P series. In Spite of following the same design flow, the company has added few tweaks. The thickness of the Xperia P2 is 10.9mm which is a way less than its predecessor. Along with this, the rear camera is mounted at the back panel in upper side with a flashlight. There is no information about the fingerprint sensor yet but believe that the company will definitely position it on the back side.
The upcoming Sony phone will possess a 5.2 inch IPS LCD display capable of delivering the 1080X1920 Pixels resolution. The screen to body ratio of the phone is 80.6 percent and it has a capacitive touchscreen. Along with this, the phone will have a Corning Gorilla Glass to protect the screen. The Xperia P2 will be coming with minimal bezel design for bigger screen interaction. Comparing to the previous P model the company has made the display more alive with Full HD support.
As Sony will be launching new generation flagship phone to compete with available rivals in the market, so it is making sure to back up the Sony Xperia P2 with a powerful hardware. The phone will possess a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 MSM8994 chipset that will be supported by 3GB RAM. In addition, there will be 32GB internal storage that will be expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. Xperia P2 is rumored to be running on a Quad Core 1.9 GHz processor, if the rumor came out to be true it will be a problem for Sony to have flagship device with low processing power. Sony will be giving a 12MP rear camera supporting all the basic features like digital, zoom, phase detection and touch to focus. The rear camera will be supporting the autofocus capability along with HDR mode. On the front side, there could be a 5 MP camera that will enable the user to snap selfies and have video calls. Sony Xperia P2 will have a longer power supply with the massive battery of 4240 mAh. According to the rumors the smartphone is expected to come with dual SIM support.
The reports suggest that Xperia P2 will be running on the Android Lollipop which is an older version of the OS.However, we believe that the Sony will definitely upgrade the software and will provide the latest Android support with its yet to launch flagship smartphone.
Sony hasn't broken a word about the smartphone yet, but the rumors and news are going around about its release date. However, no one has the exact date for the launch of Xperia P2 but we expect it come later this year.
