1. Shake to undo

After writing a message, if you didn’t like the content, there is no need to hit the backspace button to delete the whole text. You can simply shake your device and an “Undo Typing” pop-up option will show up. Just click that button and your content will vanish. In the case, if you wish to redo the typing, shake your iPhone again and you are good to go. iOS has it all.

2. Disable push email

It is widely known fact that “Push Email” is one of the features that constantly suck the battery juice and drain it in no time. You obviously don’t want an app feature that keeps running in the background. For this, you can simply select the “Fetch” option in the phone setting, which will let you select designated intervals when your iPhone will check for emails. And if you are still not contented with it, just turn it off and then manually refresh the page for any new mail.

3. Do Not Disturb Mode

Sometimes, having a smartphone can be a headache. Endless buzzing due to call, messages, and notifications can annoy anyone. To your rescue, iPhone comes with “Do Not Disturb” mode that can keep it silent for a particular period. You can even add a few numbers which you don’t want to miss, even during your sleep. This mode caters those callers also who are struck in some emergency and calls you twice in three minutes. Your phone will ring after a set number of calls.

Backing up your data and files is always a safe option. In case of theft or sudden crash of your device, loss of data is one thing that can give nightmares. Every iPhone comes with iCloud backup, which is convenient to use. Once you are connected to Wi-Fi, your iOS device will backup your data on iCloud, from the date of the last backup. In case you don’t want the regular backup, you can switch to manual process and change the option from setting.

Designating a particular ringtone for a contact is something we all have witnessed in an Android device and iPhone. But iPhone has something more than usual. You can alter the vibration of as per your choice. It will let you set different vibrate ring for different contact. This iOS tool is handy for people who work in the office and can’t keep the phone always in the ring. This way, in a meeting you can get to know if your colleague is calling or any of your family member, that too without looking at your phone.

6. Handle Siri’s pronunciation

Siri is a virtual assistant part of Apple Inc.'s iOS, watchOS, macOS, and tvOS operating systems. The iOS assistant uses voice queries and a natural-language user interface to answer questions. But sometimes, it may pick something stupid which you don’t intend. Words with altogether different pronunciation can be tricky for Siri. Thus, you can direct it by saying, “That's not how you pronounce [the word].” Then Siri will ask you to pronounce it right and it will follow.

7. Hide photos

Many a time, you don’t want to showcase few of your personal pictures to your friends or family, so you tend to hide them. If you are a regular Android user, you must be knowing that for hiding photos from gallery, one needs an app.

But in iPhone, Apple has customized its iOS in such a way that you can select the photos you want to hide and simply put them behind curtains. Though there is a catch. The hidden photos can yet be seen in Album screen. To hide those pictures completely, you may pick some apps from the app store.

  • Open the gallery

  • Click the picture you wish to hide

  • Tap and hold on the photo, the option of “Hide” will pop-up

  • Confirm that you want to hide the picture by tapping “Hide Photo”

8. Track a flight

If you are a travel freak or have to travel due to office work, owning an iPhone can prove as a boon to you. By putting the flight number into your iPhone browser (Safari), you can get to know every detail of that particular flight, even the current location of that plane in the sky. How cool, sadly for only iOS users!

9. Surface Leveler

Nowadays, Compass app is something which can be found on every other smartphone. As we all know, the basic function of a compass is to show direction, but there is something special stuffed in the Compass app of an iPhone. After opening this iOS app, swipe left and you will find a bubble leveler. It can help you to set things by levelling the surface. The app uses the gyroscope sensor of the phone.

10. Emergency SOS

Apple has smartly worked on the safety feature for its iOS users. For iPhone X and iPhone 8/Plus, you can enable the emergency feature by pressing and holding the side button and one of the volume buttons until the Emergency SOS slider appears. Drag the Emergency SOS slider to call emergency services. If you continue to hold down the side button and Volume button, instead of dragging the slider, a countdown begins and an alert sounds. If you hold down the buttons until the countdown ends, your iPhone automatically calls emergency services.

In iPhone 7 or earlier models, pressing the side button five times will do your job (In India, you only need to press the button three times).
