Apple's Siri All Set To Get Google Assistant
The dimensions of tech industry have its own magnitudes. The leaders in these domains not only shape the path for technologies but refine them to an extent that it gets infused easily in an average human mind. Just like the scenario in our normal lives, someone’s happiness becomes the reason for other’s sorrow and the scenario is no different for our very own search giant Google. The multinational has just incurred a great loss by losing one of the great minds at Google, John Giannandrea, former head of Artificial Intelligence. The hire is an absolute victory for Apple.
The news came after a reshuffle at the Google. Giannandrea announced his resignation from Google last Monday. John was very much a part of Google since 2010 when the giant acquired a startup, Metaweb. He was holding the CTO position with the company. At Google, he was made the in-charge of implementing AI-powered elements in searches, Google assistance, Gmail and other such services. Giannandrea played an important role helping Google become one of the AI-first companies.
Apple leads the iPhone innovation but when it comes to artificial intelligence the company lags behind the major rivals including Facebook and Google. Meanwhile, the hiring of Giannandrea is believed to be a step forward for Apple to enhance the AI capabilities of its voice-based smart digital assistant, Siri. In comparison with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, Siri still lags behind its main rivals. Microsoft’s Cortana is also catching up fast and this is the reason, Apple is aggressively hiring AI engineers.
In content of Giannandrea hiring, he will be one among the 16 executives who will directly report to Apple’s chief executive, Timothy D. Cook. For innovating the elements of AI he quoted, “Our technology must be infused with the values we all hold dear,”. With Giannandrea as the main AI Lead in Apple, the technological giant won’t hesitate to hire more top-level executives for better AI implementations.
Apple has a disadvantage in gathering the smartphone data as the giant can only have the device-specific iPhone data on its end. Google, on the other hand, has a range of devices to collect any kind of data in order to improve the services be it AI or any other technology. Amidst all this, one thing is clear, Apple is going to make its artificial intelligence game much prominent in upcoming days.
