Cat phones, the smartphone manufacturer which is owned by Caterpillar Inc and known for introducing high rough tech devices. Since 2012, the company has been introducing the smartphones with super durable material with high fatigue. Cat phones will be launching the upgrade version of its S60 smartphone very soon. The company is all set to push Cat S61, another tough and fancy less phone. This will be company’s second flagship rugged smartphone after S60. By adding additional features and some upgrades the phone is ready to hit the market.
Cat phones have made some major changes to S61 in order to improve its functionality and performance. This includes the camera, where the company has integrated a built-in FLIR thermal imaging camera to S61. The camera is capable of capturing the images up to great contrast and the software improvement enable it supports temperature of 400 C. Along with this, the display resolution has also been upgraded from VGA to HD display for screening the detailed Snaps from the rear camera. Cat phones have also made some improvements in the MYFlir app and added another feature that enables the users to live stream the thermal image of S61.
The FLIR camera of S61 has also given an air sensor that provides the indoor air quality reports. The sensor examines the air and tell the user about present pollutant in the air and also alerts in case of any danger element detection. There is also a lesser assisted distance measuring feature in S61 that helps in measuring the distance up to 10 meters.
The specification of Cat S61 is pretty impressive compared to its predecessors. The phone has 5.2 screens with a full HD display, which is larger than the S60. The small screen was the most common complaint of the Cat S60 users. The problem was taken seriously by the company and they have increased the size of the screen. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 which is the strongest available on the market. The phone’s works on Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor (octa-core, 2.2GHz) processor. The processing unit is supported by 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. There is a 16 MP rear camera available for sharp images with the 8MP front camera. The phone owns a powerful 4,500mAh battery to keep the phone alive for a longer time. As S61 is rugged category device and made to withstand the hard situations it comes with MIL-STD-810G specification. Cat S60 poses IP68 rating which makes it dust and waterproof to the depth of 3m for an hour.
For now, there is an official date available for the launch of Cat S61, but according to the rumors, the phone will hit the market somewhere in the second quarter of 2018. The price of the devices is expected to be around $999. However, it is quite early to guess the price but consider S60 price and upgrades it's the closest we can think of.
