Snapchat’s innovative Do Not Disturb feature is the recent addition to its platform that seems to be a savior for a number of users. The newly added feature rescues all those who have been searching for ways to mute some of their contacts without letting them know about the same. Named Do Not Disturb, Snapchat’s recent addition is the way for users to stop notifications from specific people or group without letting them know that they have been muted by any of their contacts.
Silencing notifications from specific people and group is something that a number of giant social media platforms have already adopted to in order to offer innovative chat feature to the users. Since the update was released a few weeks ago by the company without saying a word, the users are not very much aware of the news.
Snapchat’s recent addition is very similar to the features that Facebook messenger and iMessage offer to the users. To enable the feature, the users can tap and hold a person’s profile they want to silent until they are offered with the settings menu. A popup menu will feature over the screen where the users can find the Do Not Disturb feature to secretly mute either a person or a group they don’t want anymore alerts from.
While users will no longer get notified of a new message from these silenced profiles, they can always access the same. Before this, the only way to blocking the contact over Snapchat was to block a user or leave a group, thereby notifying all the contacts in the group. Even though Snapchat was not vocal about this recently added feature, it will be interesting to see how the users react to the change and how this feature will impact the users.
A design overhaul was announced by Snapchat in November last year that included change of design in the fonts, rainbow swashes, and addition of a Neon glow font. Snapchat has added this innovative feature just after Instagram rolled out the “Type Mode” feature, which gives users a number of fonts to play around.
In the light of adding new font designs to the platform, Snapchat has offered another option to the users to switch between fonts to let them appear a big or a smaller one. The new Glow Neon option will highlight the text to let it appear more prominently when a message is sent to other users. Text captions now appear like stickers so multiple captions can be added to the same snap as Instagram features it over the platform.
