The Tesla’s mobile app which is already being used by the Model S and Model X owner receives updates regarding Model 3.
It is being commended that the Model 3 will come without a Key and the unlocking and ignition will be done either with the help of maker’s app or a Keycard. The Tesla mobile app is integrated with the Bluetooth smartphone support system to ensure the connectivity. The Model S and Model X also have some of the good features integrated with the app, but the new update will take the things another level. With the help of latest mobile app technology, the American car maker added more user-oriented features in the app for upcoming Model 3. The company is more likely to ditch the use of traditional way of starting and unlocking the cars since there will be no key for Model 3. The mobile app will automatically unlock the car doors as soon as you approach. The mobile app will be the key device for Model 3. However, the Model X and Model S can also be unlocked via the mobile app, but the keyfob is the main device for the cars to get in.
The upgraded app showcases some of the other features that can be controlled and manage using the app. The Tesla mobile app has primary function, including Summon mode, valet mode, climate control, and vehicle location service for Model X and Model S. But with the upgraded app will also allow the seamless integration of information a related to the company’s Powerwall (home battery), solar panels, EV charging, and your local power grid for Model 3.

Use your smartphone as your Model 3 key
Lock or unlock Model 3 from a far
Check charging progress and receive notifications when charging has started, has been interrupted, or is complete.
Heat or cool Model 3 before driving (even if it’s in a garage).
Locate Model 3 with directions, or track its movement across a map.
Flash the exterior lights or honk the horn to find Model 3 when parked.
Start Model 3 remotely.
Park or unpark Model 3 using Summon.
The company upgraded the app with version 3.2 for both Android and iOS to support the Model 3. Tesla has already started delivering the Model X to its employees and they have probably started using the beta version of the app for controls.
Tesla has also provided a credit-card size NFC equipped cards, you need to swipe the card in B pillar to unlock the doors.
