Google on Tuesday launched the ‘Made in India campaign’ for the developers in India to develop and optimize the apps especially for the Indian market.
Under the ‘Made in India’ initiative, the developers in India will get the opportunity to develop the apps which will be optimized specially for the Indian app market and showcase under a specific section in the Play Store.
The main agenda behind this action of the Google is to improved the quality of the apps in India by enhancing the factors like innovation, minimized data consumption, optimized battery consumption, optimized for internet connectivity, useful offline state, device compatibility for apps, app size reduction, and localization support.
The other reason of this initiative for the tech giant is the Indian users are the potential market for the company. Almost 70% of the internet users access the internet via their smartphones and the number is increasing drastically every quarter. The other fact is that India has, the more Android user as compared to the U.S.
There are interesting number shared by the Purnima Kochikar, Director – Business Development, Google Play, during the summit. She said more than 1 billion of apps are installed by the Indian user from the Google Play Store each year. The story doesn't ends here the numbers are only increasing exponentially as the app installed grown by 150% every year. Since the Google Play Store now has many payments modes for the users along with the thrilling games the time spent of the Indians in growing by 3X.
Yesterday at the first ever Google Play App Excellence Summit of the company in India, which held at the Bangalore. The tech giant gathered the 700 developers across the nation and shared tips and tools that will help in developing the top quality Android apps for the local market.
Google knows the importance of the Indian market and this step ensures that the search engine wants to explore the regions outside U.S as much as possible. Guiding the developers in order to make them understand the right way to create the app that targets the local market is not new. Last year Google launched a program ‘Build for Billions’ to help the developers in overcoming the hurdles like varying network connectivity, device specifications, and high data costs.
