Uber Accidently Charged in 5-Digit For A 21 Minute Ride

Uber Is Again In The News For Accidently Charging US $14,000

It has happened more often than not for Uber to be in the news for all the wrong reasons. Keeping the track record of such bad incidences intact, Uber has once again made the headlines. The ride-sharing giant has charged a whopping US $14,000 to a Canadian customer for a five-miles long ride. The 21 minutes-long ride that was supposed to charge US $20 ended up with a massive US $14,000 cost. The company, however, stated that the issue has been resolved with a complete refund to the rider.

“There was an error here and it has been resolved,” an Uber spokesperson told about $18,518.50 Canadian dollar fare. “We have provided a full refund to this rider and apologized to him for this experience. We have safeguards in place to help prevent something like this from happening, and we are working to understand how this occurred.”

The incidence was brought into the light by one of the friends of the overcharged person with the quote as “My friend was charged 18K for a 20 Min ride (!), and they are sticking to it. What in the world??? This is insane!” Emily Kennard wrote alongside a screenshot of the receipt for the ride. “He disputed and they aren’t backing down.”

It is not for the very first time that Uber has committed such a mistake. There have been cases when uber riders have gone through similar incidences. And, the worst-case-scenario is the ride-sharing giant is showing no signs to stop the same.  However, such a massive mistake is not expected from the share-riding giant and it is high time that uber brings a pause to these unwanted payment errors. The ride-sharing giant has surely become one favorite to the riders but such mistakes can become the reason for its lost glory.
