Facebook app is slipping under the scanner, there are concerns about Facebook listening to your conversation which doesn’t seem to be a coincidence. Many Facebook users have mentioned the scenarios where they have had conversations about a few specific products and after sometime ads on Facebook starts to pop up related to the same product.

Facebook users were shocked realizing the fact that after speaking aloud about some products they have found the ads about those specific products. This and some more similar occurrences are redirecting the users towards a belief that yes, Facebook listens to their conversations.  Experts say that the connection between the two is simply an instance of a common mental preference.

However, the Facebook Inc’s privacy policy clearly mentions the type of data it collects which essentially does not accommodate any voice communications happening outside the app. Hence, Facebook denies the fact that it listens to the conversations of the users. Rob Goldman, the Vice-President of Facebook ads claimed that they run the ads on Facebook and have never used the microphones for ads.

Though this fact still remains unclear to many users and they are not happy about it. As per their point of view this could be strategy to promote and earn more through ads. Related to the similar controversy Gmail is also under the radar for using the same technique.

It is not our parents who knows us better instead it is the high-end technological world. Yes, seems to be the appropriate fact. For instance, Facebook knows what we like, we buy, our interests, feelings that we share and even our relationship status! Amazing, Facebook messenger fetch the data as per the user behavior through their browsing, search and chat history.

One of the YouTube user Neville has demonstrated the clear methods of Facebook through which it listens to the conversations related to the ads. He simply mentioned Cat food and after 2 days he found his Facebook page poured with Cat food ads.

In case if this turns out to be true then certainly it is a massive threat to our privacy, it may attract people who want to know about others for wrong reasons. Also, if this is the case then Facebook can also fetch the income, expense and other private data which is a sheer breach of the user’s privacy.

It is recommended to turn off the microphone off while you use Facebook so as to avoid a situation like this.
