According to reports the company is shutting the project and focusing on continuing to work on Amazon Appstore.
Amazon said it is going shut down the Underground and all the services for the Android users will stop in the summer end. Users of fire tablets will be able to use the downloaded apps and use the Amazon Underground service till 2019. After 2019 all the operations related to the Underground app store will stop working and it will be officially gone.
Amazon clarifies that it will stop all the services of Underground for the android users to this end. However, Users can visit the Underground via Amazon Appstore and can enjoy the preinstalled app. Additionally, users can visit the store to buy physical goods and enjoy the video content.
After 31 may the company will stop accepting the submission of a new application for the store. Amazon also said that the existing developers for the Amazon Underground will be getting the money according to their app usage by users as mentioned in the deal. Developers can also push updates to their existing apps till the service deactivated in 2019. Amazon clearly notified all that the Amazon Appstore will continue to work properly and developers can submit their app there.
